Last year he got 208 surgeries done.
During the same time another local group organized a eye check up camp, where they got 500 people checked and got 21 surgeries done. Almost all major mainstream media and local news channel of that area covered the news, and meanwhile his team was doing similar work and got more than 2000 people checked, provided 208 people with surgery.
The last year project cost us around $15000 and 100% of the collections were done through family members and friends over Facebook.
I am highly motivated to start a funding page to help my dedicated father and his friends in India to achieve his target to change the lives of 1000 women.
This project is targeting old women, especially widows living far below the poverty lines and on the street. (also read below ,Widows of Vrindavan) The target geographical areas are a few small towns around 100 miles of Indian capital New Delhi. The city of Aligarh, Hatras, Vrindavan, Gokul, Barsana and Mathura are going to be covered during this 1 month project.
Women of all religion and faith will be helped. The only requirement is their being living below the poverty line.
They will be provided free cataract pheco surgery so that they are able to continue their livelihood. Many others will be tested for their eye sights and provided free eye glasses.
The surgery target is 1000 and will cost approximately $50 / person. Eye sight checking and providing eye glasses will cost between $ 5-10.
We plan to collect $50,000.00 and if anymore amount is collected we will go for a bigger target. I appeal you to join me in this project to support my father and friends.

ABOUT ME
Hello everyone,
My name is Tanmai Bhatia, i am 14 years old and I am a grade 8 in Surrey British Columbia, Canada.
I am starting a funding page to get donations to fund the Gift A sight Project 2015 in India.
Every year my father goes to India and organizes eye surgery for people living on the street. He goes from village to village with his team of volunteers and selects the people in the worst conditions and brings them to the hospital. After the eye surgeries are done, he drops them back to their villages, changing their lives forever.
He does this work for one month and pays for his own journey, food, living arrangements and any other costs.
Looking into his work I realized that he does this without any fanfare and with almost zero media coverage.
